TE PAEPAE O AOTEA

Te Paepae o Aotea is a co‑educational state secondary school in Hāwera, South Taranaki, serving students from Years 7–15. Opened in 2023 on the formed following the closures  of Hāwera High school  and Intermediate. The school name was gifted by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Ruanui and Te Korowai o Ngāruahine to reflect community identity and aspirations. The school’s  whakatauāki, “Kia eke atu ki Taupaenui o te tangata” — “`People reaching their full potential” — guide learning and wellbeing across a culturally responsive curriculum. Te Paepae o Aotea fosters a supportive, inclusive environment where students pursue personal growth, resilience and success together.
