TSSSA STUDENT LEADERSHIP SPORTS COUNCIL

TSSSA would like to invite students from years 11-13 who are interested in being part of a group of Taranaki secondary school students who believe in the value of sport and being physically active in their school. This is an opportunity for students to learn and creatively explore ideas and opportunities with positive impact to increase participation and encourage students in your school and wider community setting.

Aims of the Group

  • Opportunity to explore ideas opportunities for sport and active recreation in your school and as a whole group across Taranaki. You will also gain an understanding of physical literacy and how it can be applied in your school.
  •  Collective voice on wider sports related issues 
  • Networking with other secondary school students
  • PD and leadership development with the topics designed by the students and delivered by outside providers
  • Lead an in school student initiative (support and funding available from TSSSA)

Outcomes

Increased student voice in TSSSA Events and the opportunity for a greater voice in how sport and recreation looks like in your school.

The potential for students to see an initiative through from idea inception to planning to an event through their individual school led projects.

Sharing the physical literacy concept in their own school and community. Learning to be active for life through positive and student led sport and physical activity.

The opportunity to become mentors at TSSSA events.

Who

Please apply now to your School Sports Coordinator or Head of Sport at your school.

Any interested year 11-13 student can apply and up to 2 students will be chosen from each school in Taranaki.

When

The student leadership group will meet on the same dates in conjunction with TSSSA School Sports Staff Hui's.
